Looking for scratch built drop pod ideas

I was thinking of using all the old "coaster" CDs lying about to make generic drop pods and was putting out the feelers to see what others have seen that is easy to build. I'm leaning toward a foamcore pentagon dread sized with a few small bits on the sides to fill in the CD and look doorish. But I could always use some constructive input. Want generic to use in whatever of my 3 SM armies I might be using any given tourney.
Thanks again for and input,
Brad

Dont remember where but I remember seeing templates online that looked like the "real thing".
Have seen converted pop cans and cups but they looked crappy. Seen really nice looking (and sturdy) ones made using pvc pipe caps. Complete with the top that "spun" so as to bring weapons to bear. Did not look at all like the "official" ones but they DID look nice.

The French GW site had actual plans posted up for a while with cutting templates & everything. Fortunately I snagged the pdf before it was taken down. ;)

If GW themselves posted it, should be ok for you to share here.

It does have the old logo and ©2006 Games Workshop on it. Wasn't sure if the forum rules would allow. The link that porkuslime posted is the same file. Can't attach .pdf files here on the board anyway.

Sure you can.
...at least... you're SUPPOSED to be able to.

Did you try?

GW logos would be fine, if it's something they freely put into the public domain themselves.

Over the years, I have seen a lot of good templates and all. Sent someone a link to some for buildings not too long ago. Would it be a good idea to have a sticky thread or something somewhere (read only as it could easily be spammed to the point where be a hassle to find actual plans/links)where we could submit links to plans or actual plans themselves for different things like buildings, drop pods or whatever else? There is always someone looking for them or people who arent but are tickled when they happen across them.

I did try, which is how I found that out. I got a message that said: "file type not allowed". I could host it on my website and link it here, but porkuslime already linked to another location.

I have them in my email still. I believe GW had the orginal owner take them down.....

But if GW puts them into the public domain as free downloads, they lose the right to stop people from sharing with one another I believe.

Hmm..

Must just be a permissions thing, then, since I can do it -and have done it before.

I guess that's just one more bonus of being an Admin.
lol
You know... Glory, riches and all that. : )
