Hulloo, B-town! I signed in today to find a pop-up window telling me that I had two private messages. I have my account set to notify me of PMs by email but I never received one for either of the two. They were from just before 8PM EST last night. I've had this happen in the past but nothing has changed with my account. Just curious to knoiw if this happened with anyone else.

What do you mean by

Unless there have been some unusual selective changes made by Adam (which I'm unaware of), BTown does not have a pop up notification of PMs.

I've been getting a pop up when I log in (if I have new PMs waiting) for a long time now.

In board preferences on the control panel right below the Notify me of new private messages is an option to have a Pop up window on new private message: which is what I believe the OP is referring to.

I haven't had any issues myself.

Yeah, I used to get pop-ups until a day or two ago, when they stopped for no apparent reason!

I always get the pop-up of the new PM, but I don't alwyas get the email notification saying I got the PM.
Sometimes I get 2 email notices, when I have multiple PM's, and sometimes only 1, where there are multiple PM's.

It's inconsistant.

There have always been pop-ups, silly-head.

Things seem to be okay now as I received notification of replies to this thread and a PM I received today.

Mine have been hit & miss the past day or so. I'll either get them right away or hours after the fact. A bit annoying.

As someone who's never really messed with Board Preferences, I honestly had no idea.

I turned it off for everyone temporarily. If you use it, go under settings and turn it back on. We were getting thousands and thousands of emails a day that bounced back and weren't being used so I had to flip it off for everyone.

We have made a number of changes to the board in an effort to speed it up, I think we're headed in the right direction.

Mine either.

Okay now MM and Sorrow, no need to go trolling the forums looking for posts to disagree to...

On topic, I saw the notification and went to make sure mine were switched back on, but I never had to, because the box was still checked.
