30 Dwarf Quarrellers(3 ranks of 10) with great weapons can churn out 20 S4 shots/turn, then strike back with 30 S5 great weapon attacks, along with WS4 T4 LD9+ heavy armor. Not too bad.Ironhide wrote:My point from previous post is that dwarf shooty units have always been better than other army shooty units when it comes to HtH. Heck, Dwarf Quarrellers can even take Great Weapons. What other shooty unit can do that?

Light armor, but they can take a shield.

The quarrelers would never get all 30 of those attacks though.

Re: 8th Edition Review
Nice little fun fact... In the back where all the model stats are, you know the thing they always include that is totally useless because it always changes edition to edition.
Well it is not useless this edition. There is a column that signifies what type of unit it is. I was looking at a Skaven Rat Ogre Bonebreaker and it says that it follows all the rules on monstrous mount, so I assumed that it would get Thunderstomp like most Monstrous mounts. However, I was looking at the back and noticed that every current mosel in the line has a stat line and a signifier of what it is in the back of the main rulebook. The Rat Orge Bonebreaker is a MB a monstrous beast, which follows the rules for monstrous cavalry, that only get the Stomp special rule not the Thunderstomp special rule. (Hohumm Well at least I tried)
Another nice clarification tool GW has included in this edition. I am very surprised and please at the same time at the time and thought that went into this book.

Re: 8th Edition Review
cheers to that! If only some HE players would realize asf+asl is a clear cut rule now....now just to hunt down and see if I can hide my sorc in the middle of a unit and use spell familiar.......oh and on further thought all dwarf thunders with shield have on dark elf x-bow with shield is t4 and 9ld......and x-bow are waaaaay cheaper, take that stunties!

Re: 8th Edition Review
Well I am pretty sure most people realize that the ASL canceling ASF with with HE is what was intended, but it does say in the army book that HE get ASF no matter which weapon they use. If you are going rules as written there could be a argument to be made. I for myself would not make the argument but I can see why some people would.

@ Gorak: But that T4 and Ld9 goes a long way in holding out in CC.
