*sigh*

Thanks, MM. Again, I feel obligated to step in here and correct some misconceptions, errors, and so forth before they get too far out of hand.

1. Bartertown as a site does not make any claims as to the validity or usefulness of external, ie non-bartertown, references. All we say is Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware. More precisely, Buyer Be Aware. If eBay ratings work for you, then they work for you. If they don't, they don't.
1a. The corrolary is that everyone will negotiate to and for their best advantage. If they feel their eBay rating warrants certain behavior, that's their perogative. If they won't change it...them's the breaks. That's why we have the reference system.

2. Alsiaie is a moderator and will be treated as such. Do you people really think I (Or MB, or Adam, or Insidius and Nuwisha for that matter) would let someone get away with faking-as-moderator without nailing them? He has acted in a professional manner and unless anyone has a good reason for him to be removed per the BTown rules, I suggest you hold your tongue (well, fingers really but the intent remains identical).

3. Kindly show some respect for your fellow man (and woman) in not deriding anyone simply for being new here. We've all been there.

For future reference, if there is ever a disagreement about who is and who is NOT a moderator or site admin I suggest going to the "Usergroups" link and take a look at the "Moderator" user group.

As far as Ebay and such, no. Take it with a grain of salt. If someone is insisting that their Ebay score means something here then just don't trade with them.

And please, if you disagree with someone's posts or ideals, do not make it a issue for the forums, it just pisses me off to have to clean up a flame war. You don't want to piss me off.

No, I didn't think you would let them "get away" anything. It is tone and message that he sends on a regular basis. A private PM would probably work better to give a warning then in public, even if he is just joking.

Please give him something in his title or sig lines that tells the rest of us that he "is" a mod/admin. I know it from private posts, but when he just pops up in a thread, you have no way of knowing.

I will happily hold my tongue on this issue and give him the respect an admin deserves.

thanks

What are the discussion formus for then, if not to exchange ideals? If you want a community like we have here, then open discussions are vital. Sometimes they get heated just like the real world. And just like in the real world, we have moderators who come in when appropriate and redirect. I am a high school teachers who has to do this on a daily basis, mostly for 12th grade 18 year olds who are "adults."

Other times we don't need moderators, just another perspective from others in the community.

I am not having a flame war with Mr. Hwang - it was point, counter-point, re-counter and conclusion from the original poster. A perfect debate format if there ever was one. Had I continued with the conversation directly with Mr. Hwang, then there might have been some simbilance of a flame war, but I have and did not. Nor did Mr. Hwang.

I think your impressions are skewed in this case because I called out a mod (who I admittedly know is a mod, but most do not since he has nothing noting that). I will happily watch my tongue as suggested.

Not to piss you off though, just my return comments. :)

Off topic...Who's Glenin? He's in the moderator list, but he only has one post? Just curious.

She is active duty USAF. For obvious reasons, she doesn't get a lot of time to play on the computer. :D
