What's funny to me is I'm just getting back into 40k. Trading and selling off a Warmahordes collection. I'm sure many others flip flop as well. I'm just glad I'm getting back in before the price increase. I'd hate to consider the MSRP in a trade AFTER the price increase. :D

Let's talk about this. There are things we can/need to do in there.

It's no better now, and won't be much better after the price increase.
Don't talk to me about the cost to play a game or "per army." On a Model to model basis, WM/H is expensive, too.

That said... I think I'm out.

I actually like the 40k game, so I won't stop playing it... but I won't be buying any more GW models, I think. Nope. I think I'll just buy less expensive stuff from their competitors and use them. Plenty of people make robots for my necrons, Space Warriors for my SM - I can ugly them up to be my CSM... and Orcs can be gotten ANYWHERE!

If I ever start up a new army again, I'll just use all non-GW models. Screw it. I don't need them or their unreasonable price increases.

I think aside from a rare model or two here or there or a codex I am also done buying from GW,
I used to love reading white dwarf but save for the sisters "codex" cough, cough, snicker,,,,I dont bother with those either.

I too shall keep playing but,,,yeah they can suck it as far as I am concerned.

It's not like they have to recast the models on stock that has been sitting for years and correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the finemiscast range supposed to help drop prices?

I cannot say for a minute that I will quit, because I won't. Buying or playing. Sure my model budget will stay the same, just buying fewer shiny new goodies and fleshing out my armies in places like this. People will continue to buy, grow tired, and want to sell.
It will be interesting to see how much 6ed and the starter sets will be this year. With the increase and all we could be looking at a $90 dollar book and a $150 or more box.... Hmmm, yup, my silly self will still buy it.
Lower rating ships first, pays first, or works out a deal that is mutually acceptable to all persons involved.

Don't like my offer, tell me no... I'm all growed up, I can take it.

I just got the Warzone 2nd Edition box and several bags of Bauhaus/Imperial soldiers from Prince August. With their sale it worked out to be about 30 cents per mini and I got 240 of them! (including shipping and not even counting the value of the rulebooks or templates)
I have proxies for whatever now-

I bailed out of GW several years ago. I love the figures, concepts, art, and backstory.
But the prices.....I just couldn't justify the cost anymore.
I was already unhappy about the prices of the figures, but I think the cost of White Dwarf pushed me over the edge.
Seriously, $9 a month for a stinking catalog? I love the pics and some of the articles, but really, there is no reason to pay $9.
I think that was finally the point where I decided that if GW had finally stooped to pricing me out of a stinking monthly magazine it was time to move on.
I still have a lot of my figures still, but a bunch have become trade fodder for Warmachine and Hordes. While PP figs are pricey, I don't need as many to play.

I have been done with GW for quite a while now. I just couldn't condone spending huge amounts of money. Let alone GW's long string of the same rules in each edition.

I will still play a friendly game occasionally. But, we use older edition rules and whatever is left as far as models go.

I, personally, don't think that Warmachine is all that much different from GW to make a change over to that game system. Their prices are essentially the same and they are moving on pretty much the same track as GW.

I have just decided to try different stuff. Harlequin, that stuff looks really nice. And a different size is fine by me.

I like MERCS a lot. It's a skirmish game and the ruleset makes you actually think and use tactics. Plus, six figures and you are set with a faction. Win. Win.
I have always liked the skirmish level games better. Especially if they have a campaign component (which I am hoping that MERCS adds soon).

So, I guess I have to say that another price increase means nothing to me. I am just happy that I have gotten over their games to the point that I don't need them at all. Period.

I stopped buying minis long ago. My time is better spent playing EVE.

For me, I LIKE that each version of the rules is so similar to the predecessor. For starters, I've got a CRAP short term memory, so dedicating things to Long Term is FUN. Also... I actually like their rules.

That said, I think my purchases will be limited to rule books and codices from here on out, unless I'm buying it USED. Even the new stuff will only be from BTown advertisers @ their discounts and NEVER from GW direct.

Here, you and I are the same, but different. I have a mostly bad, short term mememory. I have so many games and specifications for my differnet hobbies and work, that unless the game has a good quick reference chart, I'm lookng up everything.
At one point, 40k and WHFB were very close, except 40k was all skirmishers and whfb was all formations.

NOw.. whfb is gettin more like 40k. formations bah, just move in a striaght line, wheel once and rearrange models for close combat if any touches. want to change facing or frontage, reform but no movement.

Most other, as in everyone but gw, no matter the scale, has rules for changing frontage and formations, that affect movement distance.

40k is squad rules. what 1 model does affects all models. you might as well just play dragon dice. same idea. actually almost the same concept; lots of dice means more hits. tactics barely matter. cover kind of matters.

That's what like about Spartan Games, all of the rules are very similiar.

White Dwarf cost MORE than Playboy.

Yep. Plastic models cost more money than plastic boobs.

With a kid on the way I wont be buying GW models anytime soon. If another price jump hits it will be even longer before i buy a model. Sorry GW but looks like Im in rehab for some time from your plastic crak.
In an act of kindness and respect, please respond to PMs one way or the other with in a timely manner.
Im sorry but I do not ship outside the US.

and the funny part is, Playboy is a magazine, White Dwarf is a catalog. It doesn't meet the requirements of a magazine; too many ads vs content.
