Low Feedback question

Post by darkchampion »

Ok, I got a question, and I want all of you great old traders to give some help, if you can. I know I don't have the most feedback, but I want to buy something from someone with no feedback. What should I do? Should I pay, and see if he scamms me? Should I ask him to send first?

Any advice would be very welcome!!!!
I follow the idea LOWER references ships/pays first. It keeps things safer for anyone, as I would never desire to have to start over again. Nor would I want to loose the trust of any fellow gamers. That is how I ended up with my reference collection! I always follow through with my deal!

I would require that they send something first. Perhaps a 50/50/50/50 deal - they send half, you send half, they finish, you finish.

I guess it also depends upon how much. Anything over $50 I would require them to send first. After all you have many more trades than them. Its part of the rites of passage, suck it up, trade with good people, send first and soon enough you'll have a high enough rating to demand that others send first.

Good luck and don't send more than $50 to anyone without some sort of protections like Paypal or the like.

You've got enough feedback that i'd trade with you and not worry about it. I'd make him send first.

I call the guy up and say hello. Most people get a decent vibe just by chatting for a few minutes.

Besides, if he knows you have his number- he also knows you can just keep calling in the middle of the night until he caves in.

I had people with 0-4 trade refs sending first to me when I was as low as 10. I even sent first when I was new, to someone that had an 8. That's what I have seen to be the general "way it's done" around here. Now with a 40 rating, that's really pretty good, and as long as you're nice about the whole thing, I think it's up to you to help educate this newer person as to how it's done around here.

There's a lot of stuff that isn't written in stone here, and it can be a lot to learn. The more that the experienced traders help out the "noobs" the better the place will get overall.
Insert pithy quip here.

I would require him to ship first.
If he doesn't want to do that. Explain that you understand his point of view and wish him luck in the future.

Better to lose 10 good trades than get caught by ONE bad one!

Lower rating? You ship first.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

There's nothing wrong with asking them to send first. I've taken a risk on paying out first to some new guys, and while I've never been burned, it's something I avoid doing. I figure that if they're the sort of person you want to deal with in the first place, they'll be reasonable.
