DON'T CLICK ON STRANGE LINKS.

Post by jagavahn »

Greetings, looks like bartertown has become big enough to attract the attention of spammers. This has happened on a few local boards(one of which closed down because of it).

Don't click on strange links. There is a posibility they may lead to your machine being infected with viruses, dialers, and spyware.

They will typically advertise : Dating, Casino, Porn, Cruises, and Viagra.

Just a word of warning.

John

Actually here is another tip. With html, a person can mask the the appearance of a link. It could say http://photobucket.... but really the link goes elsewhere. If you are unsure on a link, hover your mouse over it. Then look at the bottom of your IE window (status bar). It will show you the link's true address. I do this for my email too. There are tons of fake paypal emails out there that exactly mimic real ones.

Yep. Some found my webstore recently, which has my email on it. Thus, they have been spoofing my email with fake ebay and paypal items for about a week. It just amuses me, I simply forward it all. Im currently collecting them all, to see just how many attempts they are going to waste on me.
