That'd be great, Vesrian.

We really are trying, but this time of year is always busy. Not to make excuses.

Ugh.. Im not going to say much since its going to sound like a broken record. Something has to be done. There are people with 50+ ratings that are posting 3 ads of the same army in less than one hour here.... They should know better. Like I told linrandir, a lot of people dont care about bartertown news. All they want is to do business. Post the rules in a useful spot. In each of the trading forums on a sticky!

I've suggested this very thing several times.

We have some changes in store very soon, hopefully.

And what about vague and or obscure posts. I let somebody know thats not cool and the forums police lets me know thats not cool. And thats quite simply not cool.

This was probably not the right place for that, but I suppose it's close enough.

Sidestepping whether or not vague or obscure posts are acceptable (IMO they are, just aren't likely to do much good), if you feel the post is that way, the appropriate response is to PM the individual and tell them you think it was too vague. Posting a response to the original post that isn't directly concerned with conducting a trade is considered hijacking the thread - and that's just as against the rules as multiple posts - and definately more of a faux pau than just being vague or obscure.

So again, the appropriate action would have been to PM him - and not post the message in the thread.

I agree with the Dwarf (whaaat? An Elf agreeing with a Dwarf? Unheard of!!)

More seriously, if you have a problem with someone's post PM them. Do NOT jack their thread, and if you do, don't be stupid enough to give the mod who warns you crap about it. It's not appropriate and it will result in account suspensions or worse.

Are we all understood? Good. :-)

Not really. I didnt give the mod crap. My posts are always straight forward I dont know why you guys keep thinking im being an ass. So why are certain rules being aherred to then? I get reprimanded for breaking a rule so why isnt that dudes post gone? Ima clear it up for future referrence....

Im not out to get you all. Every post I make isnt done in anger with the sole intention of harming, belittling, ridiculing, or hijacking you! Just because I point something out that you did wrong doesnt make it a flame! Otherwise you all just flamed me ;). We come in peace blah blah blah

Why is his post not gone? Because he broke no rule.

So it's vauge? So what? You didn't have to read it. You didn't have to reply to it.

The only person his vauge post was hurting, was himself, by slowing down or killing potential trades.

And actually, I think a good suggestion for a new "rule" is to state that no one other than an appropriate mod or admin can publicly point out a rule to someone. Anyone else that wants to must do it in PM, if at all.
Insert pithy quip here.

Well, I wasn't going to make names public but since you did...

See those links in my sig? You go read them. All. Then tell me where the rule is that states we regulate the CONTENT of the ads. You won't find it. You will find a rule about clarity in ad TITLE and posting location, which IIRC were followed.
You will also find a rule about threadjacking, and how it is not allowed.

Do you see the difference? Furthermore, if the content of someone's ad bothers or offends you, your only acceptable course of action is to let a moderator or admin know and then let us handle things. I had hoped this would be made clear in the "no threadjacking" rule but clearly I need to amend it. ((Since done))

Omni, since you want to get technical and public, I shall oblige. You violated both rule #1 and rule #4 in attacking that other user's post, and then you decided to mouth off to Insidious when he called you on it. Two violations is a minimum two-week suspension of account privileges unless the staff feels a longer term would be more appropriate. I shall consult with the staff and let you know.

Read ALL the rules before you start trying to "enforce" them. There are only five "Bartertown cops:" Trademaster Adam, Me, Morlock, Insidious, and Nuwisha. Everyone else, to borrow from Alsiaie, is Neighborhood Watch.

Rule #3: Ad format: Use a proper DESCRIPTIVE Title
We are going to be strict about what sections the ad appears in. If you want to go multi-section, which is good, then please title your ad appropriately. There are not many moderators, and we're not taking the time to read every ad we delete.
Good example: "Have Eldar and Tau, want to trade for Dark Elves and Beastmen." This will fit NICELY in the 40K and Fantasy sections!
Bad example: "Have Eldar and Tau." If this shows up in the fantasy section, it will be nuked!
Another BAD example: "Have stuff." Thanks, captain stupid, for wasting all our time

HE BROKE THE RULE NOT MSYELF
BUT HE FOLLOWED UP A NON DESCRIPTIVE TITLE WITH AND EVEN MORE NON DESCRIPTIVE AD. AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT SEES SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS???????????????????????

THANKS CAPTAIN STUPID FOR WASTING MY *edit* TIME

Omni- you are out of line period and very close to a suspension or worse.

It is NOT your place to hijack other members threads to flame them.

Please go back and READ the rules of posting. Particularly this part...

---""Rule #4: Do not hijack other people's threads.
If you want to talk trade with someone who has posted a response to a third party's thread, take it to email, Private Message (PM) or start your own thread.
Furthermore, since it needs clarification, do not attack people's ads if you feel they don't conform to Bartertown rules (Please also note rule #1). Notify a moderator, follow rule #0, and then let it go. We will make the appropriate decision(s).
If you feel your thread has been hijacked or comments are going WAY off topic, please contact me via PM and I will investigate.""--

I put in bold print the part that pertains directly to you. YOU are breaking the rules with your big mouth.

Again, YOU are the one breaking the rules right now with your ridiculous flames/comments/thread-jacking. Just because you post "oh I am not posting to flame or ridicule anyone" doesn't give you the right to hijack threads, period. DO NOT DO IT!

End of Story.

Rule # 3 is to regulate WHICH FORUM THE AD IS IN...

The title in question is "Want Misc, Have warhammer and 40k" which is JUST FINE.

It is NOT your place to question someone's ad, it is NOT your decision which posts stay or go but it IS your place to NOT post your "non flaming opinions" in someone's ad!

Kids, don't do drugs.
