Nashcon 2011 Is On The Way!

Post by BTWilliams »

Once again it’s time for the Mid-South’s premier wargaming convention, Nashcon, sponsored by HMGS-Mid South. Dates for the show are May 27th through the 29th and it will be held at the Cool Springs Marriott just minutes south of Nashville on I-65. The “unofficial” theme, since it’s the 150th anniversary, will be American Civil War gaming and open gaming will include ACW naval and land actions in several scales. But we’ll have games featuring land, air and sea battles from other periods as well including WWII, Modern, Wars of Marlborough, Dark Ages and Ancients.

And the historical genre won’t be the only one represented. Fantasy and Sci-Fi will also make their appearances. Demo games of a new set of Fantasy rules, "Pride of Lions", will be run by the author for two sessions. A 3D version of GW’s classic "Spacehulk" game will be run two sessions and a 3D version of "Attack of the Mutants" will run in one. A "Hordes of the Things" mass battle will be presented in 25mm and a local board game designer will be demonstrating his latest creation, "StelCon : Infinity", a game of interstellar conquest. And for all you sports enthusiasts, the designer of "Corner Kick", the newest set of rules to bring Soccer to the tabletop, will be running a demo game in 25mm.

Besides the open gaming we also have several tournaments scheduled. There will be a WHFB 2000 point singles tournament using 8th edition rules, GW errata, FAQ’s and any codices released before 5/1/11. There’s also a WH40K 2000 point singles tournament and a WH40K 750/750 point team tournament using 5th edition rules, GW errata, FAQ’s, any codices released before 5/1/11 and the standard force organization chart. There will be no painting scores for any of the GW tournaments so unpainted models are welcome. And, there will be LOTS of prizes. We also have a Flames of War 1750 point Mid-War period tournament, with prizes, and a DBA tournament, also with prizes. Add to this the flea market and the dealers area and you have a fun filled weekend.

And speaking of dealers, some of those scheduled to appear are Splintered Light Miniatures, All the King’s Men, Rebel Mini’s, The Goblin Factory, Time Portal Hobbies, Recreational Conflict, Badger Games, Scale Creep Miniatures, RLBPS and Wargames.

Admission to the show is $25.00 ($20.00 for HMGS members) and includes all open gaming, admission to the dealers area, admission to the flea market and one tournament entry. Additional tournament entries are only $5.00 each. HMGS Memberships are available at the door for $15.00. Each membership comes with the $5.00 discount off the price of admission and $10.00 in NashCash to use towards purchases in the dealers area. Also, the hotel has a special convention rate (you must make your reservations through the hotel reservation desk to get this) that includes two free breakfast buffets in the hotel restaurant for each room night booked.

And on top of all this, we’re a “family friendly” convention. The hotel has an indoor pool for the kiddies, the Cool Springs Galleria is just across the way for your significant other’s shopping pleasure plus there’s a host of tourist attractions just minutes away in either Franklin or Nashville! And local area restaurant choices abound! If you’ve ever attended Nashcon you know what a good time it is. If you haven’t, we’d love for you to give us a try.

Playing games, socializing and buying new hobby stuff all in a fun and friendly atmosphere! What better way to spend a weekend! I hope you'll make plans to attend and if you do, just tell the folks at the registration desk you're a Bartertown member and I'll be sure to look you up for a personal welcome!

No Warmachine or Hordes?
Do I owe you a trade ref? Remind me- sometimes I forget!
Awaiting trade refs from: tristym, yazaran

If you don't have your Location listed, take a second and update it!

-I respond within 48 hours unless utterly incapable. Please do the same. Any offer I make stands for that long as well.
-Lower rating? You ship/pay first. Same goes for me.

'How Much for...?' messages will no longer be replied to at all. I've been nice about it, now I'm done.

Sadly, I'm at a different con that weekend, which happens to be about 20 minutes away!
However, I'll send up some flares among the Press Gang, I'm sure there's a couple down that way who could come and put up a demo table or throw together a tourney!
