Re: loading time for this site (slow)
Thankfully, I've been copying everything before sending it, just in case.
Happened to me TWICE today, but both posts went through... site just timed out or something.
Aside from that, I'm seeing a 1000% improvement.

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
It's all over the map for me. Either it's very snappy and responds instantly or times out repeatedly. No seeming rhyme nor reason that I can determine. I had my PM Inbox time out 5 times in a row and then I read & sent 3 PMs with no issues. Now it's timing out again. As a troubleshooter this is maddening to try and pin down.

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
It's back down to crap for me. I've tried to Pm someone 5 times. It took 20 minutes and tiemed out everytime.
I tried checking refs. It timed out twice.
It's starting to look like everyone better back up their own messages and trades elsewhere. This usually preceeds a server crash on other sites.

Mon it was much better (just luck I suspect), but it's been back to it's old tricks again yesterday and today.
Posting to forums and PM's seems to be 90% of the issue. I always c/p now - it fails 80% of the time, and takes a few attempts.

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
We did another round of memory optimization and cleaning up logs and error messages. Let me know if today is better than before. Basically, the web host and I think we have hit the limit for what this server can do.
Thanks,

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
The irony of timeouts trying to load this post, and far more trouble trying to post a reply is not lost on me...
Is it an issue of transactional memory? ie: you've reached a critical mass of active users x activity or something? Or more a storage issue?
What I'm trying to get at it is would us deleting mails, or you imposing temporarily reduced mailboxes, or a 30 day purging on posts or something help the issue, or is it a runtime problem, rather than storage?
I'm loath to delete mails (and I do like to revisit the conversations I had with someone a few months ago, and confirm yes it was a good trade, or why we didn't trade, etc) but if it will will help triage the site I'm willing to do a purge of anything not a currently active trade, and do my bit.
Jon
Ps: having timeout issues on almost all pages everywhere tonight.

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
Transactional memory is the problem. Storage isn't a problem, we just have too many people all at once. I just came upon a heap of time with nothing to do, I'll take a look at it later and see what else I can come up with.
That is pretty freaking funny that this post wouldn't load for you.

When is the last time you did a defrag for the servers?

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
The site is still slow, just not as slow.
PM's are the worst.
I was just on another php site at the same time as here. I could surf 2 pages there vs the 1 here. 4pm EST.
Here had 219 users, there 22.
It's also had crashes, but never had the lag like here.

Re: loading time for this site (slow)
Adam thinks he might've found the reason (with the server), but I haven't heard anything about a resolution yet.
AFAIK (and this is ONLY speculation), we might have to switch hosting companies.
