Question about 5th ed 40k
Hey guys,
I'm starting up my Dark Angels army up again- do they have a codex yet? I see different codices listed around, and I'm not sure which one is the most recent. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Do I owe you a trade ref? Remind me- sometimes I forget!
Awaiting trade refs from: tristym, yazaran
If you don't have your Location listed, take a second and update it!
-I respond within 48 hours unless utterly incapable. Please do the same. Any offer I make stands for that long as well.
-Lower rating? You ship/pay first. Same goes for me.
'How Much for...?' messages will no longer be replied to at all. I've been nice about it, now I'm done.

Just the codex that came out around the end of 4th edition.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my underwear!
Buy, sell or trade....it's all the same to me. Lower refs pays/ships first!

AKA the "Nerdrage" codex..
Use that Codex if you want to run Deathwing OR Ravenwing.. anything else you are best off using Vanilla SM Codex with your Dark Green Marines..

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.
If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.
I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

I think the new Space Wolves codex is going to be good to use for running just Deathwing.

Evidently Logan Grimnar from the SW codex allows you to take Wolf Guard Terminators as troop choices. Still limited to 20 models in the WG force org though..
From what I remember, Logan himself is 300-ish points, and the WG Terminators range from 43 - 68 points each depending on loadout. VERY expensive troop options, but possible.

Re: Question about 5th ed 40k
Must take Logan (250-300 pts and way better than Belial) and he makes WG count as troops. So that means you can take 6 units of 10 terminators each.
With stormbolter and powerfist, they are about the same price as in space marine codex, more expensive with LC or TH/SS.
But you can get them 10 points cheaper with power weapon instead of power fist and you can mix weapon loadouts in a squad. I have not seen the SW codex yet, this all comes from others that have seen it. You can see it in a GW hobby center.

Re: Question about 5th ed 40k
Interesting- so you propose it would just be a "Counts As.." army?
Fortunately, I'm not going for a tourney-level competitive army- I just like the Deathwing and Ravenwing so much I can't resist!
I'm going to my LGS today, so I'll take a peek. Thanks for the advice!

Re: Question about 5th ed 40k
That’s the beauty of fluff for GW games. If you like certain rules but don’t like the backstory – change it! For example, I’m going to do up a pre-Heresy Thousand Sons army, using the Thousand Sons and Chaos Space Marine rules, but model them like pre-Heresy marines.
Just rename Logan Grimnar for your army, accurately represent his wargear, and maybe think up a paragraph about how this is a Dark Angels successor, and this is how their Deathwing rolls.
