My first child...

Post by connivingsumo »

I've made some great friends here on Bartertown - and have had a ton of correspondence w/some really great people.

I've been flying under the radar lately because I've been "nesting" in anticipation of my first child due 9/24/09, so I thought I would explain where I've been lately.

Well... my unborn son had other plans, my wife went into labor 3 weeks early!
Our first child, a boy, was born at 12:07 AM on 9/3/09 at 19" and 5lbs. 13oz.
His name is Beckham Cade Johnson.

Just thought I would share

*Oh - and for those of you wondering... YES! He will be indoctrinated into the world of tabletop gaming!!

Congratulations.

Hope mom and Beckham are doing well.

It will be fun once he is old enough to start 'playing' with your toys.

Thank you,

Congratulations.
Don't worry the joy of having your first will wear off in about a week at 3AM after no sleep for 6 days :)

Funny story, my sister had a due day on your same due date. She had her kid roughly three weeks early as well on the 2nd.

Coincedence or is Tzeentch twisting things around. Sounds like your little one is destined to be a gamer :)

Lower rating? I ask that you ship first. Also, if I offer a stupidly good deal and you try to negotiate even lower...don't call it bad communication that you didn't get a reply. I deleted the message.

The first couple months after kiddo #1 is a good time to get lots of stuff base coated. I dont really recommend playing with fiddly bits or detail work.

Best of luck to you and yours.

I'm interested in your first child. I have 40k and Flames of war to offer in trade...

just kidding!
congrats!
Always ship with delivery confirmation, I do the same.

Rating of less than 100 (or with no known traders)? You ship first (for trades and purchases), otherwise, we can ship simultaneously.

YOU must ship your package; not your wife, friend, lover, cousin, or dog. If you are not able to ship packages yourself, then please don't work out a deal with me.

Let's keep the trade ads in the trade forums. Okay?
I'll let you go with a warning, this time. If it happens again, though, I'll have to give you a vacation.

Remember to keep fragile long things like spears away from him for a long time.. you don't need a real-life "Bend it like Beckham" moment..

other than that lil warning..

Congrats on the spawning! Kiss sleeping bye bye.. but, hey.. this year, Halloween is only 2 months away.. you can probably do a convincing Zombie costume!
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Just remember to make alot of noise when the baby is sleeping... I am serious. Put music on, vacuum do not try and be quiet. I was given this advice before my first and kinda scoffed at it at first but once explained i totally agreed and it worked amazingly. If you train the baby's ears for noise while they sleep the will not be light sleepers and you will not have to put your life on hold while they take a nap and then wake up at the slightest noise.

I did this with my first and have nothing but a joy in her sleeping experience.

I have had many friends try this with success even a little later, by introducing music while the baby slept, when they used to be problematic sleepers.

Sleep is your friend.

Good advice.

We had this problem with my grand daughter (she's living with us right now). Getting her to sleep was a b****. Getting her to STAY asleep was just as hard.
She's getting better, now. Two months of working on it will do that.
Now, we just need to teach her to go to sleep by herself and not need an adult in the room with her.
