This is getting redundant: The Drop Zone

Post by davethebest »

I posted this in another thread, and was encouraged to create a new thread:
I'm not sure if this is the right place or not to speak up, but it does relate to Robert at The Drop Zone.

In late August of last year, I preordered 3 Battle for Skull Pass sets from the Drop Zone and was assured that they would arrive 4-12 days after their release (sept 9). They did not arrive in that window of time, so I waited. I am located in Canada, so I assumed they would take more tme. I contacted Robert and he told me he lost my order, but would order more and send them with 2 weeks. Still nothing arrived. I contacted him again, and he said they must have gotten lost in the mail and that he did not have a tracking number for them. He said he would 'eat the loss' and order and send a third time. This time I asked for a tracking number and since then he has not responded to me.
It is now March and has been so long that all our communications have been deleted from the BT servers. I went to open a dispute on ebay, but learned that you can only do so after 45 days of making payment. For those 45 days Robert was in contact and I believed him...
I am patient and still hope this transaction works out, but it is has been a while and am on the verge of leaving bad feedback. I will wait until he is unsuspended before moving towards bad feedback.

I should note that at the same time that I ordered the BfSP sets, I also ordered a 7th Ed rule book, which I did recieve, albeit many weeks late.
I looked, and I still seem to have all the PM's I sent him (in my sent box) but none in my inbox. One day after not being online in a while, I openned it up and my inbox was empty..

Hi there,
I am interested in your offer for Battle for Skull pass sets.
You say 25% off, that would mean $33.75 plus $5 shipping to Canada.
Will you only part with the Fanatics if someone was to buy a battalion?
What would shipping cost for more than one Skull Pass set?
When will they be shipped?
Let me know
Cheers
Dave

Hi there,
Would it be possible for me to get 3?
If 3 are available, then put me down on the list and tell me how much it'll cost.
Cheers

they are 45.00 retail
your cost 33..75 x 3 = 101.25
plus 8.00 shipping to canada
with paypal 113.62
with a credit card 109.25
i will have them by sept 8th the will ship on the release date of the 9th
my paypal account
rlecomputers@bellsouth.net
if you want to do credit card email me at that email address for security reasons
thanks
robert

Okay, that all sounds great to me. I'll be paying paypal, as it is generally just easier. Is it too much if I ask that when you ship them, mark the customs form as Gift or Sample or something like that, 'sample' is probably best. I don't want to get dinged at customs. That's my preference, but if it's not possible then mark things how you need to.
Could you please make a request to my paypal account, so I do not pay someone else by mistake,
cnguedes@shaw.ca
Hopefully everything works and I'll soon have a nice sized Goblin army! (Plus Dwarfs!)
Thanks

Ah, people make mistakes, it is understandable.
So the book was already sent?
I'm not angry, I just don't like to disappointed when I open my mailbox...
Also, you said you might be able to throw in one of those limit edition Fanatics because my order was so large, did you have a spare one?
Anyways, thank you for remedying the situation.
Cheers

Hi there,
I am just messaging you to get some sort of update on my order. (1 7th Ed. Hardcover Rulebook and 3 Battle for Skull Pass).
You told me they were to be sent on Sept 9 and should arrive within 12 days. It has now been 29 days, and still nothing.
Have they at least been sent?
Cheers

That is enough information to satisfy me for now. I know you had a mix up or something, and all I was looking for was a heads up.
Hopefully it arrives this week!

Damn Custums!
Thats all I can say.
I agree, I do not need the extra mini rulebook, as I will have 3!
Now it is a race to see which rulebook gets here faster!

Do you have anything to report about my 3 Battle for Skull Pass boxes that I payed for but have yet to receive?
I don't want to give you negative feedback, as you have a lot of positive and seem credible.
Do you have a tracking number or something?
Let me know
Please

Hi Dave:

I maintiain e-mail logs off BT just in case something happens.

I periodically (every few days) move e-mails tied to my active trades from the Inbox and Sentbox to the Savebox.

Then, I cut and paste from Savebox to a WordPad file, tagged by BT username and date. So if we agreed to a trade, there would be a "davethebest.rtf" file with the messages we've exchanged.

This way, if I have to recreate a chain of messages, it's relatively easy, even if the BT server crashes.

/John

Yes, I thought of that today as I was copy and pasting all those messages today.
I will do so in the future.

For the second post in a row, I saw thanks to you, JohnHwangBT!

Just going around to the other TDZ posts and letting everyone know that I did have luck reaching Robert over the phone. So if your issue is still unresolved try reaching him by phone.

704-236-4329 Mon - Sun 10 am - 10 pm eastern time.
If I don't get what I think I am getting you will be sending me money for me to ship it back to you. So be very certain I know what I am getting.

Also more of what I don't want doesn't make up for not getting what I agreed upon.

Either will result in negative feedback, posting of our records in the appropriate section of bartertown, and possible mailfruad. Otherwise don't trade with me.

Amazingly, the kits came in the mail today, only 6.5 months late.

I am still happy with the models and price, but 6 and a half months is a long time, and I will still be leaving negative feedback.

Is that the right thing to do?

If you feel it is the right thing to do, then by all means do so.

The primary questions you should ask yourself include:
-Were you happy with the service?
-Were you happy with the price?
-Would you do business with him again?
-Did you receive your order in what you consider a timely fashion?

If you see more No's than Yes', you should probably leave negative feedback.

Waiting 6+ months is way too long. I would definitely leave a negative reference. Though at this point I doubt TDZ will be back here.

Anyone remember when I had a problem getting my Skull Pass sets from Drop Zone?? He "lost" my emails too. I was the first guy to have trouble with TDZ on Bartertown. At the time,I was told I was being unrealistic/impatient....hmmmm....how things change.

I do recall the Skull Pass debacle. Any particular reason there's no Trade Reference from you?

IMO, 6.5 months is far to long to have waited. If I were you, I'd have left a Negative a few months ago.

But if you actually want to do business with him again, I guess you could leave a Neutral.

Ok... I've kept a lid on my thoughts due to the whole "Admin" thing...

But...

6.5 months is NOT acceptable by ANY means.

Not too mention the complete lack of communication in regards to this.

Negative all the way.

Starslayer, who told you you were being unrealistic and impatient? And how long was it between you ordering and your bringing it up?

Just curious..

Honestly I dont remember. It was mostly the lack of communication that got me angry. I sent 3+ emails and never got an answer. Then TDZ started a thread about me being to impatient and I was hounding him. He wanted to leave me negative feedback. I didnt care if the item was going to be a little late, I just wanted to know. The thread is still around here somewhere. Now in retrospect,it was a sign of bad things to come.

Found it. Its in the lower third of the "bad Trader" section.
Thread:
"Advice needed on feedback before I post a negative" by The Drop Zone.
Hmmm...was that a glimpse of things to come or what?
At least I didnt have to wait 6+ months for my Skull Pass set.
