Backout - Norksirf

Post by getupandgo »

I made a deal for a small goblin army about 2 weeks ago and the seller has stopped responding to me. I didn't send any money, because he agreed to send first, but we definitely reached an agreement that he was to send it out and then I would send the money as soon as I got it.

He has read all of my PMs, but ignored them. No responce in 10 days.

I was wondering what people on here felt was fair to do in this situation.

No paypal would be no problem. I can send a postal money order, or personal check (or other method if you let me know what you'd like) once I get it. If that works for you, let me know.
You can ship to:

****

Please send with delivery confirmation. I can add a few dollars for it.

thanks!

I'd definitely be interested in taking it. My only reservation is your low feedback rating. Any idea how we can work that out? Let me know what your thoughts are...
Please definitely consider me wanting it. I just want to make sure there are no problems. If you'd be willing to ship first, I will certainly pay you the day it arrives, or if there's some other option you can think of, please let me know.
Do you have an ebay account with a higher rating? I do with a 368+ with no negative.
Let me know,
Anton

Being that you have not sent any money nor has he sent the goods, a bad reference would not be warranted. You have had an agreement through PM or email or what have you, but nothing has been exchanged. It looks like for what ever reason he has backed out of the deal. As long as nothing has changed hands, ie the army or the money you were to send, then no "trade" has actually taken place. I just wouldn't deal with the guy anymore, even if he responded to your PM's in the future.

Lower rating, you ship first. I always leave feedback, appreciate the same in return.

Better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

Dude... you're hosed.
When Lin gets to this thread, you can expect to get a short vacation.
He's cracking down on threads like this.
As you are asking for advice, and not reporting this guy as a bad trader, you should have placed this in another forum.
There are multiple examples of mods, Admin & Watchmen telling people this in their misposted threads here. I'm surprised you haven't seen them.

Nothing personal. Justa heads up.

That being said, this guy does not qualify for negative feedback, unfortunately.

As per the rules, neg ref is only for a misrepresented side of a trade that the other party refused to make right, or if he ripped you off.

Had you sent $$$ first, he'd qualify. Since you didn't, though, he doesn't.

MM hit the nail on the head.
Its not a bad trade. No real trade took place. I sympathize with you,as several people have backed out on deals with me. I just put them on a personal list of people I will not deal with. But you aren't justified in leaving a bad ref.

Incidentally, I seen the Goblin army that guy was offering, did you really think you were going to get all that for $50?
If it sounds too good to be true...

Post a hasty apology, claim ignorance, beg for mercy ,and hope to catch the Mods in a good mod.

...you should have placed this in another forum.
Yeah, but in which forum?? The Warhammer Fantasy Battle For Sale/Wanted Forum?? Seriously, I would guess in the Bartertown Information and Misc Messages, but the sub-text of that forum on the index sounds like it is more for administrators and moderators than everyone on the boards.

Maybe what Bartertown needs is a "Help Me!" type discussion forum in the Good/Bad Trader Section for just these kinds of posts. I'm sure it would make things easier for everyone, especially for the newer members of the community, the moderators and the Bartertown Watch.

It seems a better solution than banning someone whose looking to tap into the vast knowledge and experience of the longtime members in the Bartertown Community. Let's be honest, we all were a newbie at one time or another at something. Asking questions is one way to learn. There just needs to be a proper place for it, so that the Bad Trader Forum stays strictly for reporting Bad Traders.

Just an idea and my $.02.

What Spire_182 said
Trading Guidelines:
1. Lower rating ships first - even if I am purchasing.
2. If you agree to buy something, you have 72hrs. in which to pay. If payment is not received in 72hrs., I will automatically post a Non-Payment/Backout thread.
3. Refs are left upon positive receipt of goods, NEVER beforehand!
4. I accept Paypal & USPS money orders and charge for shipping AT COST. I make no profit from it.
5. I trade NIB/new models at retail.

Duly noted, and thanks for the recommendations. I'll be making some edits shortly.

:rulez:
Also, just an FYI: I would have permitted the thread to remain since he posted a PM-conversation. It's perfectly okay to say "Here's what we've been saying, should I do X or Y?" so long as the evidentary (if it's not a word, it is now) requirement has been satisfied. :-)

Well, Lin... It's good to know you're not a total hard :orcbutt: about it not being a Bad Trader post.

It's good to know that a NON- bad trader report can stay, as long as it provides that information.

What if he had removed the trader name temporarily? Would that have been okay, too?

Just trying to get a feel.

Thanks for the heads up. From my perspective, we did have an agreement, and he didn't follow through on his end, but that's what I was asking for an opinon on in the first place.

Feel free to close this thread if mods want.

I had the same experience with norksirf

Post by uatu13 »

I actually was about to post a thread very similarly to this one because I had the same bad experience with the trader norksirf. I actually PM'd him about the Dwarf lot he had for sale along with the O&G one, and since then haven't heard a thing from him. He was supposed to ship first, and it's been almost a month now, so I'm assuming he backed out of the trade without any explanation. I'm just lucky I didn't pay first!

Here's the PM's, it started with me asking how much he wanted for the Dwarf lot and continues below:

and no all the bits from the army have been mixed in with all the bits from other things, so its basically impossible to find all of them.

Also, I don't see why people don't think this situation belongs in a bad trader forum. Yes, he said he was going to send first and didn't, so the trader didn't lose his money or items, but does that mean norksirf isn't a bad trader? From my perspective if someone makes a deal to send something first and doesn't that means they backed out of a trade against BT rules; we were just smart enough not to lose any money to this guy. He's still a bad trader, and people should be given a head's up about him before they consider trades in the future. Just my $.02

Is 'backing out of a trade' against the rules?
mon·ey: noun; a good that acts as a medium of exchange in transactions.
Money is a good like everything else; if your rating is lower, you ship first whether money is involved or not.

That question has come up frequently lately. As a result I have updated the rules for posting in the Bad Trader Forum. I will also cross-post to the FAQ when I get a chance.

First off, a "deal" has been broken. As Bad Traders is where we look for shady types, this is most obvious place to post the note.

Otherwise, it'd be good to have a a "Dealbreaker" forum and move the threads there.

To the OP, what I do when people back out of deals, is to tell them something like:

"I've e-mailed you twice within the last couple weeks, but gotten no response from you. If I don't get confirmation from you by Friday, I am assuming that you are backing out of our deal."

Something like that generally tends to get people's attention.
