How'd you get the name?

Post by kturock »

Simple little topic. How did you come up with the name you use on Btown?

I'll start. About 17-18 years ago, my wife and I joined a Star Trek Klingon fan group. It would now be considered cosplay.
We had to create characters and make up names. Since all Klingon names started with a K', the rest was all that was needed. I saw a comic book called Turok and decided i'd use that. I modified it to have a 'u' as an inside joke. KT u rock. I was a metal head back in the day and was known for my car & house stereos and my large collection of metal cd's.

Back when Ebay and Btown started, my email was kturock@ a now defunct isp. So, I used it.

Nothing fancy. Marginally creative.

Next.
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)

I almost wrote a disclaimer at the end. Actually I did and deleted it. If you name is only your name, and isn't even a bit creative; don't waste our time. ;-)

On a serious note:

athelu

20 years ago i was attempting to register a DBA name. Every option i tried had a conflict. Athelu was the name of the D&D world i created at the time, so registered that. I started using it as a userID on pretty much everything after that, since i figured it would always be available.

In my angstier, teenage Goth days, I was using Sorrow as a handle, but I quickly learned that I was not alone, and I really haved having to come up with variations, so I developed this.

You can actually type it very quickly if you put on caps lock and hold shift.

Not really creative just a song from Garbage with my own twist.
Lower rating ships first, pays first, or works out a deal that is mutually acceptable to all persons involved.

Don't like my offer, tell me no... I'm all growed up, I can take it.
All offers are good for 24 hours

My uncle had a local punk band called the Baptist Creatures back in the mid-80's and they would use my school pictures on their promotional materials. When I was first looking for a screen name/email address/etc, one of their posters came to mind, and I've been using it since.
