Mekboyz Slagg backout

Post by Pibz »

Hello B-town,

unfortunately I came across a trade that really disappointed me. I was contacted by Mekboyz Slagg about purchasing a bunch of ork boyz from me pretty cheap. we struck a deal and he said he was sending out payment in the mail, a good amount of time goes by and no payment. I contact him again and he says he is sending payment that day. another week goes by and he contacts me telling me that his parents won't let him spend the money now...... which angers me about this is I was contacted by several other people who were interested in the $150+ worth of items I was selling and I really need the money. here is our past PM's.

Sorry

My dad wont let me use any of the money in my bank account, even though I have used a penny he says I have to save it up

Really sorry about making you wait so long again

You'll have to edit this to make it in chronological order before it'll be addressed.

Another note would be that he seems like a minor as his dad is controlling his funds and should not be allowed on the site

Ahhh, Ironhide you are right, I had recontacted him a couple days later after I had earlier decided not to sell them. I will edit the post.

I don't think you can Edit this forum.. you will have to add them in a separate entry..

Ya, i mean if i sold them that money would just go towards models again so i might as well trade what i have closer to retail for the items im looking for then sell my stuff off at 50%.

You mean close to retail? thats gonna be kinda hard since nearly all the people hear sell at 50%

Gonna be kinda hard to sell if you sold at retail price

most likely not, unless its a really good price your offering me, I would rather try to get near dollar to dollar in trade for them.

This is a backout and you are within your rights to leave a negative ref. However, it is not like this kid had control over a certain portion of the deal (obtaining the payment). I'll be willing to bet it was his money in an account set up by his parents, so he couldn't take money out without their consent. I'm sure he really wanted to go through with it, but some parents can't understand the value people place on this hobby.

For future reference, when discussing trades maybe it would be a good idea to get the person's age or a close approximate. That way you can factor in the parent exponent.

No offense, but if he isnt a "big boy" he shouldnt be making $165 deals. Others should know he is unreliable.

Totally agree starslayer. Just trying to say there are some things people should know about their trade partners.

Certain pertinent facts should be discussed between trade partners.

Examples:
My wife/parents control my bank acount.
Can't send until payday.
I'm thirteen and have to rely on my parents to give me money, or get me to the post office.

Basically, if it could affect the trade, you should discuss it with your trade partner.

Right, they should. But who actually will? No one. Age 13 and responsibilty are two very different things. Not many traders here will want to make any kind of deal with a 13 year old. Even if he blatantly steals from you, not much will happen. A very light slap on the wrist & a stern lecture from Dad is the worst consequences.

Is there anychance Btown could have a $.01 charge on a cc or some plastic? If someone has a card at least they should be 16or 17 and at the very least it would allow u (admin) to have more info on a person that you can contact the cc and get adress, name, pritty much anything that you want in a BTR. I don't know if thus has been thought about in the past but seems like it could fix a problem or two.

Sorry if this is offtopic

Leave feedback. It helps build the BT community. It's the polite thing to do. If I owe you a ref - please PM with details so I can fix that oversight.

Three comments:

1) No. We won't be getting into the "must have a CC to join" game.
2) It *IS* off topic and should have been brought up as a new post in a more appropriate forum (don't stress it, though)
3) If anyone else wants to discuss this or any other unrelated topic, please start a new thread in a more appropriate forum.

Eric

P.S. This sort of topic (trader age) COULD be a good one to start a new discussion on, if anyone's up to doing it.
Lower rating? You ship first.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.
