another buyer back-out without notice: daleroller

Post by kturock »

seeing the last series of posts here state that once a buyer/trader agrees to a deal, then doesn't follow through with sending the payment is a bad trade, warranting a bad ref, here is one of 2 that happened in the past month.
since this is also happening more and more frequently, i feel i need to warn other b-towners about this trader/buyer.

$9.55 for priority mail, insured. the box is about 2 pounds.
and oregon is almost as far across the US from florida as you can get.
postage rates vary by weight and distance.

so your total is $77.55
send me your email address and i'll send you an invoice via paypal; unless you prefer to use an usps money order. if so, i'll send you my street address.

If no one minds me posting,

I talked to Dale about this backout. He's been so busy working and taking his bar exam tests while going to school he actually forgot and is sorry. He was genuinely surprised and shocked when I asked him what was up with a BACK OUT on B-Town.

He got me to join B-Town and I had seen he had previously done some pretty good trading including things he traded from B-Town to get for me before I joined.

I honestly think Dale had no intention of just bailing on you as he's been so busy some weeks he cannot remember his own name.

Just my Two cents. Dale is a pretty stand up guy in my opinion.

then why did he not even pm me back, when i sent him a pm, and an email, a week before i left the ref?
i know he read the pm, and he still couldn't be bothered to say, "sorry, i changed my mind"?

he started the deal feb 19th, on march 18th, i sent him a pm and an email. 30 days later.
on feb 19th he said the mo would go out the end of the week.

that was the last i heard from him.
25+ days, and no chance to reply to a pm or email?

yet he had chance to read them.

my decision stands.
he broke a writtn contract, declaring he was going to purchase minis. on ebay it'd get him a non-payment strike. 2 gets you banned. so it must be somewhat serious if they'll [ebay] do it and have a policy about it.

backout

If you cant take 5 minutes to respond to a message then you shouldnt be trading.I personally wouldnt leave a backout ref,and thats just my personal preference, but if someone reads my message and doesnt respond in a weekthen the stuff is back up for sale as far as Im concerned.I travel a lot with no computer but at least have the common courtesy to let my trade partners know when and how long Ill be out of contact.Im relativly new here but you got my vote Kturock.

I don't mean this replay to dog pile on.

My view is there NO excuse. I had a relative pass away last week. I was still ABLE to send out PM's canceling my on going negotiations. One guy understood with a pm and I never heard from the other.

Like others have said, 5 minutes is nothing. Nobody is that busy.

Sorry, was just voicing my feelings on the matter, not setting it up so people could easily flame another trader. Thanks for the boost in faith of other traders guys.

you're standing by your friend, which is a noble trait.

if he had answered the pm or email, then the problem wouldn't have happened.

if you consider stating facts, supported by posted pm's, flames, then either get a better set of fire-proof clothes, or change you ideas.

i posted, as i stated in the beginning, after several deals fell through, with none sending a pm or email; as per the then rules here.

now there is a section for backouts and deadbeats.

as per the ref guide, i felt that i would never trade with him again. we had a trade; $$ for minis; but he never shipped. he was and is in MY OPINION, a bad trader and got the ref for it. because he still has a positive rating, shows others have had good deals with him.

as far as i'm concerned, the case was over when i posted.
i really feel the thread should be locked. nothing positive can come from further posts.
the facts are stated. it's over.
but i will defend myself if someone flames or attacks me because they disagree.

No one has flamed your friend, and if anyone has shaken your faith in trading,it should be your friend that your still defending despite the fact that he just ignore Pm's he recieved after he'd read them.

Your Friend may indeed be a stand up guy,but in this case his actions were not that of a stand up guy at all.

Cheers

I am not sure my last post came out right. I am sure your friend is a good guy. My point is if you are very very busy, then it might not be a good time to do business. Once you start a transaction it is my opinion that you must communicate until the deal is confirmed or falls through.

Again, sorry if my last post came out wrong.

No one isnt saying he isnt a nice guy or a good friend. But he "fumbled the ball" on this trade. Thats it. He has to face the consequences. Its not the end of the world.

I agree with the OP, but I was bothered that 2 other posters immediately slam Dale for what he did and they weren't the one he bailed on according to the OP.

Thanks for some of the clarifications and sorry I was generalizing, but it bothers me when other people in the world are more than happy to slam someone for their faults.

I don't want to fuel this topic with more complaints, just apologizing for being pissy about other people's comments when they weren't involved in the original deal.

Lictor- If you are talking about Peacemystic & myself- we did not "slam" him. We only said that he deserved the ref. How is that a "slam"??
You posted here defending your friend. Thats fine. But respect others opinions when they dont agree.
You want to go on about "people not involved in the original deal"- YOU werent involved yourself.
Im done here now.
