New Site Weirdness

Find something odd? Have a question about what we did or why? Ask away, and I'll do my best to promptly answer your questions.
General Announcement wrote:Welcome to the new Bartertown.com!

Our new server is much faster, and we're very excited to hear what you think about the updates.

Server/Software Updates:
  • Operating System: - CentOS 5 to CentOS 7
  • phpBB - (forum software) 3.0.12 to 3.2.0
  • Server Hardware - We're now on an entirely new, dedicated server with twice the RAM and a Solid State Drive

Forum Changes:
  • RULES - Are now linked in the hotbar at the very top of the page, so they're easy to find. Also, you don't have any excuse for not reading them.
  • ITL Trade Ref System - Also located in the hotbar up top. If you don't see them immediately,
check under the Quick Links menu.
  • GW products have been condensed by genre. No more vacant, empty sub-forums dedicated to specialist games - those now belong in the GW Fantasy and Futuristic categories. Read the descriptions if you aren't sure where to post.
  • Collapse-able Sections - An awesome extension of the updated board, you can now collapse the categories you don't care about to make the forum smaller.
  • Announcements - Like this one! Did you know we were going down for maintenance and we had updates scheduled? Now you'll definitely be in the loop on future things that impact the site.
All the awesomeness aside, there may be bugs or issues that crop up as we settle in. Please check here for threads in issues, and only post a new thread if you happen to come across a new issue.

So, on previous iterations, the site was full screen for me. Now, it isn't. I have a gap on either side.
Is this normal from now on? If not, how to I correct it?

Thanks, Plarz!

Eric

Yeah, I believe that's normal with the update. They have a max-width set for the CSS on the body, so I think they're a little more strict on the look-and-feel of the forum.

Is it a problem?

Ooh pretty! Is there going to be a button for new posts again?

Edit found it in the upper left dropdown!

Yeah, most of the old functionality is still around, it's just moved a bit. :D

Problem? No.
More of an annoyance, as I STRONGLY prefer full screen. I was just wondering if there was any way to change it, that's all.
Plus, as there may be others out there wondering the same thing, I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

Eric

What did you search for? I'm having trouble recreating the error.

I was just able to delete PMs from 2011 without issue. Are you getting an error message, or seeing weird behavior (besides not having the PMs deleted)?

I marked the messages, delete marked, and just get pushed to the main page without the messages being deleted.

They issued us a cert for the wrong domain (they used the server name, not the FQDN), I'm waiting on the correct one before enforcing HTTPS.

Thanks for the info. I will say that I don't see the constant loading of ads and the slowing of my connection.
