Mobile browser hijacks from bartertown

Post by hiddikel »

Hi.

I've gotten 2 browser hijacking pop ups while looking at bartertown today.

The ones that open a new tab and inform me just how infected my mobile device is.

You should probably check out your adds or whatever it is you gotta do. I forgot to screenshot it before killing the process.

It's not us. It's the mobile browsing.
You'll see that a lot when browsing on your phone. Especially if you visit sites with... adult content...

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

While I'm not going to dispute having watched scantily clad women in compromising positions on my phone, it is literally only this site that has now given me 4 popups in 2 weeks.

I've also run virus checks and scans since posting this, and not not been to questionable sites since you mentioned it.

This just happened.

Also having this problem. First noticed it on Monday. It appears when I visit BTown through Facebook and Gmail clients as well.

The operative words here are "mobile browser."
It's not us. It's you.
We were very recently scanned and are clean.

I understand it isn't your site. It does seem to be affecting multiple people and only this site making me think that there is something here.

My suggestion is that it might be one of your advertisers/ banner adds that has been infected and is pushing to people's mobile browsers.

I know imgur had the same problem recently.

My phone gets redirected all the time on Btown and Bell. I do visit....questionable sites. I no longer do Btown on my phone and I walked away from Bell. When I'm on the computer I have no issues with Btown. Minus my other post.

I also have this and its only when coming to BTOWN. I view all sorts of pages from my phone and it only happens on BTOWN and it only started within last couple of days.
About me:
1. GW retail doesn't equal value if you intend to sell me assembled/stripped/primed/painted items. These all devalue them and anyone can get 20-30% off GW retail NIB.
2. If I take the time to write you please be kind enough to at least tell me no or not interested.
3. Lowest reference ships first

Its Bartertown. Something is being overlooked. Its only this site on my cell. Not casting blame, but something is definitely there.

I access the site through the Tapatalk app on my phone, haven't had an issue
I always trade using standard Bartertown practices (i.e., traders with a lower Trader Rating ship their items first, unless other mutually agreeable terms are reached).
I always ship items using USPS, and I always ship using Delivery Confirmation. You should, too.

After a bit of trial and error. 3 times it's happened to me it was a "wargamers cave" advert at the top of the page as seen I'm the picture linked above. It just happened again.

That's probably the hijacked ad that's *edit* with your site.
