If this is fair just let me know.

I agreed, clarified his questions, and we arranged the trade which he agreed to on Thu Jun 26, 2008 5:58 pm

I sent my half of the trade via UPS on July 9th and sent this message on the 12th of July

He replied in the affirmative on Monday July 14th. This is also the last time I heard from him.

I have yet to see any models and have sent further messages on August 8th and August 31 to no avail. I can appreciate a reasonable delay, but a month and a half with no contact is ridiculous. If any further verification of the transaction is needed, please let me know.

Did the PM's you sent him get read? Are they still in your outbox?
Lower rating? You ship/pay first. No exceptions.
Yes I have a bad report. Yes it was my mistake. Yes it's been resolved. The above still applies.

Okay.
I won't give you a hard time, because it appears as if you genuinely tried to do verything by the book here.

You missed a couple VERY important details, however:

1) You need to post the COMPLETE string of PM's for your deal, including the "header" information (names, time & date stamp, subject line, etc).
2) You need to show proof that you did, indeed, send. This could be anything from a scan of your receipt to a message from him stating that he received the box. I'm aware that you haven't heard from him since you sent the box. That detail was simply there for posterity. Without proof, he could -just as easily- claim you never sent it/he never got it.
3) To make it easier for everyone, you should post a link to his ref's (not something you "missed." it's just good info to include).
4) If you're calling him a Bad Trader (which, by posting this thread, you are), post his name and address. If he IS scamming people, he might be using multiple accounts to do it, or could be a previously established Bad Trader. Posting this info can help track him down or reduce/eliminate him scamming under other Trader Names.

Numbers 1 & 2 are necessities, 3 would just be a nice addition and 4 is something that, while not 100% necessary is IMMENSELY preferred my the Admin staff for aid in the reduction of scamming.

Just FYI: Without #'s 1 & 2, Linrandir will probably Nuke your thread and issue you some sort of warning (at best).

Thanks.
Eric

Thanks. I'll edit those in tonight. I have the receipt from the shipping, but it will take some time to get that scanned.

Double posting is okay. It's your thread. : )

As for the proof & reworking the thread to have all info... Don't stress over it.

If you have to wait until tonight, that's fine.

I figured that I would update this thing to get it properly done. All of the tags and things are properly in there now. Let me know if I need to include a pic of my shipping receipt. Everything should now be kosher insofar as requirements go.

I am always interested in marines (I have way too many already but am always willing to get more if its a good deal). Make me an offer, I'd be willing to take everything, but I don't think I have enough sisters stuff to make it a good trade. I've ranked what I'd want below. Just let me know.

Vindicator
Assault marines
Commander
Tactical marines
Land speeders

no problem. You should get the package sometime next week. Thanks.

It actually took me about a week and a half to ship the package, but it was sent out on July ninth. He should have gotten the package on July 16th (as per UPS estimation). I lost the receipt (see below) at the time but have since found it. The Tracking # is 1Z6AT7370339301945 but it is almost 2 months old at this point and no longer in their system (as far as I can tell). If I need to I can provide a picture of the receipt.

This message was replied to as below but still sits in my outbox. I am not sure why its still there as he must have read it so I don’t know.

Okay. I got a package from him today and most everything is there. A couple of things replaced with others, but shadowhawk4's obligations are now fulfilled. I originally had a very long, and in fact, rather rude diatribe from the middle of this disagreement that would now be unfair to post, however, I feel that it is important to address it here because it came up and made me rather upset throughout the transaction problems.

Basically, this guy is being infuriating, so I would like an answer from you about this disagreement that we have. First, he is willing to replace my order, so this isn't about him honoring our trade. Basically what he is saying is that since he claims that he sent his part of our deal, his responsibilities to me are done and he is just being nice. I think that is wrong, and that he actually has to deliver me his end of the deal in order for him to have his responsibilities fulfilled. He seems to have not insured his shipment, which sucks for him, but isn't really my problem.

Anyhow, the basic question is whether or not he is in the wrong, because he keeps rubbing it in my face that he is being 'nice' by getting me my models and I want to reach through the Internet and strangle him now.

Chris

P.S. I am letting the argument drop for the moment because I want to actually get my stuff, but I will be culminating the argument with an email to him that I will post in the bad trader forum when this is resolved.

I recieved this back:
Linrandir wrote:His responsibility ends when the goods are in your hands. If he chooses not to insure the shipment, that is his problem. See, insurance and package tracking aren't for the person receiving. They're for the person sending. How else are they going to know that their stuff was delivered, and that their end of the bargain is complete?

He can carry on all he wants about how "nice" he is being, but what it comes down to in the end is that he failed to carry through on his part of the deal. Were I in your position, I would ignore everything he's saying up to the point that the stuff you want is in your hands. Then, making sure to have saved all the communications to this point, I would complete the bad trader report and file negative feedback when the ITL is repaired.

Hope that helps. :-)

[snip quote]

Remember boys and girls, you have to get the package TO the recipient and be able to prove that you did, otherwise, you haven't sent it. And also, always, always, always insure your packages. Even if it is a small trade (UPS Insures up to $100 as a part of their delivery if I am not mistaken) and especially if it is more than just a small trade. Had this package been insured, the hassle and difficulties with this trade would have been avoided altogether.

I believe in tracking. If you give me an address, and the USPS says they delivered to that address, then the goods are delivered and I'm done.

However, if you give an non-secure address (e.g. office / dorm / apartment mailroom), then at that point, it's on you. If there is a problem, I will help you with the tracking up to the point it passes out of USPS control. But once it goes into *your* system, I (and the USPS) have *NO* responsibility because we have no control. That is, if the USPS delivers it, and your neighbor steals / destroys it, that's not our problem.

To date, in lieu of insurance, I pack *very* carefully and sturdily, and let that be the end of it. Most of my trades are small, and USPS failure rate is low, so it just doesn't make sense for me to do this.

No matter what he says- he is not doing you any favors. Does he have proof he sent anything the first time??? I doubt it. Its not his first "problem" here. Anyway. at least you got your stuff & its over with.

Im curious- what are you giving for a reference??

I am not sure yet. I'll have to think on it some more, but certainly not positive. I am going back and forth between bad and neutral. It will probably depend on how I feel when I sit down to do all my backlog of feedback
