Hello all,

So pulling a 24 hours shift today and in my lunch break worked on this for a bit, but be warned I am not a poet, but looking for some creative touches to enhance it, goal is to advertise Bartertowns Charity Army, the NOVA, and the NOCF all at the same time, and hint at some of the greatness that is the 40K Charity Army.

I am open to any and all feedback, after we get it a little better, perhaps I can trick the powers that be into getting it posted in the Newsletters and or the NOVA and or NOCF blogs. But I think it needs some work, as again, I am not a poet, let me know your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

Eric

Hello NOVA Fans,

Today’s I thought I would share with you a Holiday Christmas story,

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' bartertown.com,
Not a die was rolling, not even a D6;
The miniatures were placed on the shelves with care,
In hopes that the NOVA would soon would be there;
The gamers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of vast armies danc'd in their heads,

And Laurie in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap —
When out in the game room there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the dungeon I flew like a flash,
Tore open the door, and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen dust,
Gave the light of mid-day to objects a must;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a massive 40k Army, and a dozen volunteers,
With a little old style, so lively and full of motivation,
I knew in a moment it must be the NOVA OPEN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION.
More rapid than eagles their coursers they came,
And they whistled, and shouted, and call'd them by name:
"Now! Terminators, now! Assault Marines, now! Scouts and Land raiders,
"On! Knight Titan, on! Drop pod, on! Dreadnoughts and Land speeders;
"The Army list posted to Bartertown.com! To the top of the forum wall!
"Now donate away! Donate away! Donate away all!"
As the donations arrived, The Army list was formed,
Off to Bolters and Bows they went, Troy’s brushes prepared;
So with custom bases, and tons of lights to be entertain,
With the Rhinos full of Marines — and a Knight Titan:
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
The prancing and pawing of each armored hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney a games day boarding Marine came with a bound:
He was dress'd all in Armor, from his face full of spite,
And his Armor was all shined with Blue and Bone White;
A fully loaded bolter was flung on his back,
And he look'd like the devil just opening his sack:
His eyes — how they burned! His power weapon: how merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry;
The pin of a grenade he held tight in his teeth,
And the grenade it encircled my feet like a wreath.
He had a broad face, and a pair of massive biceps,
That could crush an alien skull, like doctors forceps:
He was tall and solid, and afraid of no elf,
And I defecated when I saw him in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I would soon be dead.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Drawing his sword; then turn'd with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprung to his thunder hawk gunship, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle:
But I heard him exclaim, over the sound of the orbital bombardment —
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Hello all I hope the holidays have filled your stockings with lots of plastic and pewter, may the paint fumes help you have a great new year!

So I just wanted to pop in and let you know that their will be a little article in the NOVA newsletter on the 1st about this awesome bartertown project, and also about the awesome knight that became reality from this site as well. If you are already getting the newsletters no worries, if not, I recommend going to this link, and in the bottom right is where you can get added to their distrobution list. If not I will probably just forward it to you in a mass email anyways, because anytime I see this project get some attention, I am excited. http://www.novaopen.com/

Have a great day, an awesome night, and here is to a New Year!

Brief update, clock is still counting down so fast! I just returned from a month long train up to go to a month long NTC rotation in California, so been away to long, and with a few dozen charity projects on going, and this massive Charity Army, I am taking the weekend to catch up. Rest assured, Troy is going through pots of paint like I have been drinking water in the desert heat! Problem with the terrain was worked by the b-town staff and I love you guys for it. Glad to see an advertiser/supporter of b-town step up to the challenge like that. Hope everyone is doing well. You are all awesome!

Re: The Greatest Bartertown Community Charity 40K Project Ev

So, this weekend I have to make a very hard decision.

The future of the Bartertown Army.

A ton of the miniatures have been completed but not all of them. And well if the project is to launch in the 2015 NOVA Open Charitable Auctions, it is already late. But we can get it included up to about AUGUST 1st. But even with that time the entire force will not be complete. So I have to choose to enter what we have complete and ready to go, and either wrap the remaining items into a 2016 Bartertown Project, or hold the entire project and push it to 2016 all together?

This is no easy choice for me. And I would love any feedback from anyone still following this tread.

Some things that contributed to the delays where:

Donations that where promised and never showed up. (I supplemented quite a few of these out of my own pocket, but just enough to get the force playable)
Late shippments from sponsors and donors, (It happens, although if we do it again we will start a lot earlier I think)
Artist obligations (It was a massive endeavor, and he does have a day job, family (has a new baby!) And everything else we all struggle through day to day.

So in order to get this going or rescheduled, I must intiate the future of this Army ASAP. So I reach out to the community and the donars with options....

1. Enter what we have, and set the remaining items into a 2016 Bartertown Army?
2. Push the entire Army into the 2016 program?

As a side note, the NOCF has already prepared and paid for advertising banners, and the tickets, and set up the online raffle parts for this Army, but has not "activated" them although all the printed material does have Bartertown 2015 on it, so while a little investment on their part, they do not want this to influence the options. But I think it is worth a point of note.

Thoughts?

What is finished being painted, vs. unfinished?

Why not try and get a few more artists to work on it? Is that a possibility?
