Blackwater Gulch

From my blog, with more words.

The first half of a set that a certain mod has been patiently waiting for  .

I expect honesty about models' conditions, thank you.

Those are cool! I really like the gambler. But I have to say, I'm not sure he was very patient. :)

Looking really good, so far. I like the variance in skin tones a lot.

It's odd that a Mod sent you the same stuff as I did.
I'm sure these aren't mine because, you know, I'm an ADMIN.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy that I got two of the same set of minis. These are for a mod who wasn't as cheeky about his commission- you're next after these are done, though

Thanks, Doug, yeah, he was a lot of fun, and maybe "patient" was the wrong word...

Blogspot is blocked from work, and I haven't been online at home since you posted these... so, forgive me if there are any answers/elaborations there.

I like the gambler. The vest looks really good, as do the backs of the cards. Until seeing your paint job -and it might just be the angle and/or size of the pic- I never realized how much he looked like Harrison Ford.
The other models look good, as well, but I look forward to seeing your blog and the "more words." : )
Are there bigger pics there? Just curious.

From the blog wrote:Micky was probably the most fun of these three to paint, because I got to decide what hand he had, and because he reminds me a little of young Harrison Ford.
There you go. We all agree. LOL

Looking at the blog...

I agree with your assessment on the Norwegian. He does look pretty good with that skin tone. Like you said, though, it might be a little dark. Maybe a little closer to Jacob's skin tone?
I really like what you did with his coat. It looks good.

I think that, of this group, my favorite model (not paint job, but MODEL) is the girl (Lee Roland). There's a typo in your blog. Either you used the wrong name for the guy in the top left of that pic, or you used the wrong location to describe her. You said, "Of the Clancy Gang, Lee Roland (top left)...definitely my favorite, and I'm not alone in that opinion- whenever I was working on the commish and my wife was checking in, she'd ask to see Lee's model," but Lee is in the top right.

Either way, I think she's my favorite pose, as well as Mickey.

Have you decided what the final look for the base edges will be?

Hehe, yep, dunno, but as soon as I started his face, it was immediately "yup, Harrison Ford"

Yes, I can send you some higher res pics, but that's the best size for standard web resolution (where there's no variable zoom)

Sure, will lighten The Norwegian's skin up a touch. It's actually the same mixes, but I guess I didn't paint the midtones as strongly.

Yep, will need to fix, re: Lee (right model, wrong place). Locational dyslexia or something...

Re: bases... I guess I'm still confused, even though I thought we had resolved that one? I thought we agreed on simple lines? Let me know...

No need for the higher res pics right now. We can wait until your completion/approval step.
As-is, none of the models has anything that glares at me that I think needs to be addressed.

I'll PM you, re: bases.

I really like the choice of base colours, the yellow and black really pump up the models! Although I am sure MM had NOTHING to do with the clever planning of it.

lol

normally I'm not the biggest fan of colored stripes (tried them for one army, got sick of 'em), but I felt like the close colors worked pretty well. And, MM gets an " executive producer" credit, re: creativity ;)
