Using characters from old army lists with newer rules

Post by RedSkullz »

OKay
SO myself and a buddy are starting warhammer fantasy. I have some current models but i also like the looks of some of the old ones(and some of the old stats from old army books look fun!) We are using 6th edition rules. I currently have smaller armies for WoC, Lizardmen, Brettonia, O+G. I have all of the army books for 6th edition for the armies i possess(well i still need a lizardmen book) I also have 5th edition army books for almost all the armies i possess(need O+G still)
So here is my question. Would it be feasible to merge the characters from 5th edition into the 6th rulebooks? WOuld there be any characters that would be too powerful, or not compatible with 6th? Understand that i know nothing of 5th edition rules and i am a beginner at warhammer in general.(but not a beginner in wargames)

I've been collecting since 5th ed, but did not seriously play until this edition. If you are playing between friends, does it really matter? By playing each other, you will quickly learn if something is overpowered. If you have fun with merging older rulesets to play something you like, it is kinda the point (grown adults playing with toys for FUN).
The point of the game is the win. The object of the game is to have fun.

5e to 6e was easily the biggest shift the game has ever seen. 5e came to be known as "hero hammer" 6e was an attempt to make the rest of the army matter again. I would not recommend using 5e characters in 6e without some big modifications.

Which characters do you have in mind?
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

Okay so far i have painted/plan to paint these heroes and would like to use their 5e stats unless they are just too potent:
