Anyone try Dust?

Post by Norseman »

However bad the title sounds... I really would like to know.

Dust tactics and the associated larger scale tabletop.

The models look REALLY cool.

I was wondering how the rules were. Supposedly Andy Chambers wrote them and he always did ok for 40K.

someone told me yesterday that andy wrote dust, so I went home and looked it up.

FFG's site has a download of the rules. It doesn't say anything about andy in them.
here's a link to FFG & dust.

I went to andys site afterwards.

I don't know much about Andy, but if he helped make Starcraft 2, he has to be a totally awesome guy. :)

Andy Chambers is working on Dust Warfare - a tabletop miniatures based wargame using the figures/models from Dust Tactics - see the FFG site: http://fantasyflightgames.com/edge_mini ... 173&esem=2

It seems there were demo games using the BETA rules at GenCon Indy: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_ ... 173&esem=1

Dust tactics is great- I traded all my 40k for it. Think of it as a simpler warmachine where all your stats and weapons or on your squads. Stat. Cards. I like it it because itbsets up fast, has excellent models, and can get in a game in under an hour. Paolo parents desigbed the tactics game, but as notes above Andy chambers is working on the tabletop dust tactics that is due out soon.

DUST: Tactics is...okay. The models are really nice, but the gameplay feels too simplistic - although I have to say you can get through 2-3 scenarios in an hour, it's not really a lot of meat. It's a boardgame with very pretty markers (i.e., the minis) and not a miniatures game that plays on a grid, IMO.

I am largely collecting in preparation for DUST: Warfare, the "true" tabletop game. Being a fan of Andy Chambers designs (Battlefleet Gothic, Starship Troopers) I have high hopes.
