Thoughts on non game related models

Post by 3eland »

Hello all,

So I bought some tanks from the dollar store and was planning on nurglifying them up for my CSM. I figured this way I can destroy them however I want and I only paid a dollar (well $1.50) rather than the price of a Rhino.

The only thing is the dimensions are not quite correct.

A normal Rhino is approx.

3" wide
4 3/4" long
2" tall

the tank I bought is approx.

3" wide
5 3/4" long
1 1/2" tall

I plan on greenstuffing and plasticarding the tanks to get them as close to the same dimension as possible but the major thing is the length of the tanks and the looks. I won't be able to just cut off an inch (although I could try....) and the look will definately not look like a normal Rhino since it is a different type of tank altogether.

What is the general understanding regarding things like this? Would you care? How close to the real thing must something be before someone calls shenanigans?

Any thoughts or opinions will help lots.

Thanks!

EDIT: PICS!

Ditto to Kturock said. I don't know if they could pass off as Rhino vehicles though, unless you added another box on top of the tracks to raise and widen the top part out

Yeah I decided to have some fun with plasticard. I have the body built and it resembles more closely to the rhino now. I also cut out almost an inch so it is closer in scale.

Going to greenstuff it today perhaps. I'll update you all with pictures.

Renegade Guard Vehicles would work though yeah. I'll have to remember that

To Hell with it. Life's too short to get bent out of shape over an inch difference on a tank model.
If your opponent has a pissy fit, go play someone else.

Lower rating? You ship first.

I'm a little late to the party, but I've always been a fan of conversions. As long as they represent the model you're using. (Ex: Tanks = Tanks)

I've always been against unit fillers and other stupid stuff that has nothing to do with the theme of an army. Oh, you're playing Empire? Why do you have 3 ogres in your unit of Halberdiers? It drives me insane. If you're going to do conversions or fillers, just make sure that you make the effort to make the model fit the role and also to fit your army's theme.
I've been dealing with minis for years. Just because I'm new here, doesn't mean I'm an idiot. Please refrain from treating me as such during our negotiations.

1. I support that the Lower Rating ships first, unless another deal is made.
2. I will take pictures of all my packaging and receipts during a trade. Please do the same.
3. I understand that "Real Life" happens, but please keep me in the loop if something takes place that hampers your ability to adhere to your agreements.

As long as it's consistent and decently done, I'd never have a complaint.

I expect honesty about models' conditions, thank you.

If I don't respond in a day or two, please check back, I've forgotten-sorry.
