Do you name your models?

Post by 3eland »

I like to name my models, I find it gives me fluff personality to my armies. It can even negate confusion when targeting models (example, all my Zoanthropes have names, my gaming group knows them all and will say things like "Targeting Brains with the template, etc (Brains is my favourite Zoanthrope, he has won games for me by himself and because of this is constantly targeted)).

Am I the only one that does this? If not, do you paint/write the names on the bases or do you just refer to them by memory? What are some examples of the names you have for your models?

I am working on getting basecoats/colors for my models, but I plan to get to this fall and do detail work on them all, and then compile their accomplishments by squads and create a liber of their accomplishments.

That's what a friend suggested actually. Funnily enough he is the smallest of the "Titans".

When I have duplicates of warjacks I name them to make them feel special. Since doing so they have gotten much better at their jobs.

Hunter 1 is Deadshot
Hunter 2 is Hawkeye
Sentinel 1 is Sideswipe
Sentinel 2 is yet unnamed.

Still working on naming the omnijacks

I find when you name them they perform better too! Obviously that is purely psychological but still LOL.

I have only named 2 of my Marines. One a Chaplin and one DW sarg. I bought them from a guy in the UK who was selling another guy's stuff after he passed. His collection of toy gaming models was sold to create a fund for his son who was under 2 at the time?? The Chaplin I named after the dad and the Sarg is named after the son.

Many of my orks have names as well but the names cannot be posted on BTown per the rules.
In an act of kindness and respect, please respond to PMs one way or the other with in a timely manner.
Im sorry but I do not ship outside the US.

So I want to label my models with their names. However, writing "Tiny" or "Brains" on the base is not as cool since they are Aliens and cannot speak English. I have yet to find a Tyranid alphabet, was there ever one made? What should I use instead? I was thinking Futhark (runic).

Secondly, should I paint the names on or is there a way to create labels that would look good? I was almost thinking a label maker but then thought no, no that would not look good LOL.

Btw, Tiny is fully painted now :D - Took only, FOREVER

I have an Ork Stompa I am building. He has 2 FW arms. The body is built from CoD pieces.
Just the body is equal to 3 CoD storeys in height. The head is the cab of an ork Battlewagon.

I call him "Mr. Stompy."
When I finally get him finished and painted, I think I might paint "Mista Stompee" on him somewhere.
