Wargame Culture, etc.

Post by Wag-A-Tail »

1. What do you think of the Marvel TV Show?
2. Is it better to role-play Colonial miniatures or stricly do them as a miniatures game?
3. What do you do when you find your gaming opponent cheats?
4. How do you deal with personality clashes in a gaming group?
5. What is the best war movie? Western? Science fiction?

1. What do you think of the Marvel TV Show?
Never watched it. Didn't even realize it had started (I don't watch a lot of TV).
2. Is it better to role-play Colonial miniatures or stricly do them as a miniatures game?
I have no idea what this means. LOL
3. What do you do when you find your gaming opponent cheats?
Address it.
4. How do you deal with personality clashes in a gaming group?
I'm a grown man. I address it and get past it or avoid the person.

6.
1. I started watching it and then stopped. It was "meh" but you can tell they just want money and have no clue where they are going with it. I might try watching it again but I think I'll stick with the other shows I watch.

2. I enjoy role-playing my miniatures, I make up a cool fluffy story about the battle and, although it's usually in my head the whole time, I role-play it out as the battle goes on. I enjoy campaigns too, and in everyone I have my "General" which is "me" in that world LOL.

3. The group I play with are very close (we all have children that play together kind of close) and we aren't the kind of people who cheat in a game. Sometimes misunderstanding come up or different views on a rule, but we always talk about it as a group and never create tension when it is not needed. If, however, someone did belatedly cheat, we would address it maturely.

4. It's funny we actually have a wide arrange of personalities in our gaming group. We find it brings more to the games, as we never know what to expect. We have never really had a personality clash though, but I expect if it happened we would once again address it maturely.

5. I am not a fan of "War" movies, if by war you mean movies depicting World War 2 or [insert army] vs [insert army]. I am not a fan of Westerns either, the only one I actually enjoyed was the one (mind is pulling a blank) where it's more of a comedy and the new sheriff is black... I'm sure I'll remember later.... But no, I do not enjoy Westerns at all. As for Sci-fi movies, I am a great fan of the Alien movies... which is probably why I have such a large Tyranid army... although Starship troopers is good too.

EDIT: Blazing Saddles

6. Not sure what you were asking here but I would say purple.

Well... Eleventy could be said derives from LoTR, its opening scene revolving around Bilbo's "eleventy" birthday. So in a way, you did :D
originally derived from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Bilbo Baggin's eleventy-first birth day was the setting of the opening chapter. Since used by people all over the world.
Bilbo reached the ripe old age of eleventy-one.
Or is it the urban slang for the over-use of exclamation marks?
A commonly used mockery of 1337 talkers, derived from the over-use of exclamation marks after a declaration. Since many people preferred using the Caps-Lock to the shift key, they would be unskilled with the shift key (if such a thing is possible) and it would end up coming out as !!!1!!!!111!!!! or things along that line. "Eleventy" or "Eleventy-one" refers to the groupings of ones located in an overly long string of exclamation marks.

As someone who's never read LotR (cannot STAND his writing style), I never heard of it outside of when I "made up the term" independently.
As someone ignorant of most urban slang (What is 1337?), it wouldn't have come from whatever that is.

Rule 34 isn't so much an answer as just a universal truth.
If I forget to post a reference for you, please let me know!
If you are not going to post a reference for me, please explain why, maybe I can fix it!

Did they mention it in the movie? I never noticed.
Also, I've been using the "number" since I was in high school (and I'm over 40, now). So, it was before the movie, anyway.

I'm disappointed, though, that the "original" idea I had was not so original. LOL
