BTR - brittle - Resolved by brittle

Post by Bazin »

Introduction

On July 9, I received a PM from user brittle expressing interest in some of the Infinity models that I had listed. He had noted he had a number of X-wing models available for trade. After discussing the specifics of the trade, being the lower ranked trader, I shipped the next day by Canada Post and provided a tracking number. Brittle notified me on July 18 that the package had not arrived, which was confirmed by the tracking. The package was noted as Delivered on July 25. On this date, I asked for a confirmation from the user for the receipt of the models. He had not logged in or read my message for a number of days, so I sent another message on July 30 asking when my models might be sent. He responded with "should be out between now and sat" the next day. On Sunday, Aug 4, I had not received a confirmation that the items had shipped, so I sent another note asking for a tracking number.

Today, I messaged MagickalMemories to ask for advice about the situation, and he encouraged me to open this BTR.

It looks like it left Chicago on the 14, and the delivery time my PO said was up to 10 business days from the 11th.

So could be next week if it doesn't come tomorrow.

Thanks for checking in.

Please, provide the address he gave you to ship to. We don't allow phone numbers to be posted publicly, unless they're publicly available. When they were given as part of the trade, we require addresses, however.

Thanks.

Should that Zip Code be 95864?

On doing a search of the address, I would agree that the zip should be 95864, however, he had provided 95854 to me.

That would likely explain the delay in the delivery of the models I sent him.

I am surprised. Typically, that is something that USPS will catch and point out at the counter.
Regardless, thanks for posting it.

I'm from Canada, so that's why it wasn't caught at the counter, I'd bet.

I live in a small cow community of 50,000... cows, our local post office always checks the zip when I send something to the states. I think it's more postal error of the person that was working at the time.

Eh, could be because I bought postage online then. Who knows. Never had the PO check a zip code closely.

the online checks the zip to make sures it's an actual zip, not that it's correct for the city.
Not every number combination is in use. Some numbers are 'retired' when the city/town/business no longer exsists. Here in Florida, there was a small town that only consisted of a sugar cane grove and the harvesting company, and the employees who lived in the area. When it closed, the zip was discontinued.

Also APO/FPO are constantly activated and deactivated.

I don't know what's what. But from the photo on his facebook page, it looks like he's maybe on vacation or something, so the simple communication that he was going away for 'period x to y' would have done wonders.

Do you consider this resolved, then, or do you want compensation for the broken pieces?

As the damaged mini is easily repaired and the broken peg is just really an annoyance more than anything, yes - I consider this closed, though some sort of apology would be appreciated.
