BTR - BDWilliams - Resolved

Post by wehrmacht » Sat Feb 05, 2011 3:31 am

I posted the following ad on Bartertown early in January:

---------------------------------------------
Hey all,

Have:

Box of 6 Ork boyz on sprues
Box of Ork Burna Boyz NIB, sealed

8 Khorne Berzerkers, assembled partly painted
8 metal Bloodletters, unpainted

Bronzino's Galloper Guns set x2
metal Chaos Spawn NIB

Want:

Plaguebearers of Nurgle, esp. OOP ones
Plague Marines
old-style Rhinos
Land Raider?
Forge World stuff?

Thanks!

-------------------------------------------------

I received a reply from BDWilliams (real name: Joe Paiz) and we agreed to a trade of my Burna/Loota Boyz box for his 8 Plaguebearers. He asked that I send first and since he has a much higher rating than me, I agreed. I sent my half of the trade with tracking on January 12, 2011. It arrived on January 21, 2011. I have sent repeated PMs to Joe and one email, but have had no reply and my stuff has not shown up. He picked up the PM I sent on January 21 but subsequent PMs are still in my Outbox. Btown logs indicate his last visit to the site was on January 23, 2011.

I'm not sure if this is a "ripoff" situation or if Joe is sick or otherwise unable to complete the trade. I understand if it is due to a reason beyond his control but all that I ask is for some communication. I hope my fellow Btowners can perhaps help.

Here is the string of PMs we exchanged:

The Burna Boyz, are those the Burna/Loota box? If the Loota bits are there, I'd be interested in a trade. I have a variety of plaguebarers, OOP & current. Thanks.

Hi Joe,

Yes, it's the Loota/Burna box, still sealed.

Most interested in the OOP Plaguebearers, how many you got?

Thanks,

Dallas

I have 8 of the OOP. 5 models are NIB (Musician, Standard Bearer, Champ, and 2xNormal). These guys are the previous edition, with the single horn and a cyclops eye. Then the other three are bare metal, rogue trader Plaguebearers. Vomitgrot, Putridsore, and Doomblight are the three as they are referenced on solegends.

Hi Joe, I'd certainly trade the Burna/Loota sealed box for your 8 plaguebearers. LMK how you want to work it.

Thanks,

Dallas

Sounds good to me. Now I would ask that ship first, and I hope that doesn't cause any waves. If you are ok with this, my address is:
Joseph Paiz
2930 Marion Rd
Marion, TX 78124

Please use some sort of tracking, be it Delivery Confirmation via USPS or UPS, so that there is a trail. I will do the same upon arrival of your package, so if you would respond with your address so that I may ready your minis. Thanks again, and I look forward to a great trade.

Hi Joe,

Happened to look at the USPS website today and note that the parcel arrived

Hi Joe, tracking says the parcel arrived at your end, could you let me know status please?

Thanks,

Joe - you need to get back to me with the status of this trade. I hope everything is OK at your end health-wise etc. and if the non-communication has some legitimate cause I will understand. You have a good rep here so I hope the lack of communication is inadvertant.

However if I don't hear back from you by 5pm EST on Friday 4 Feb I will be posting a BTR.

Regards,

Dallas

Finally, after a kindly mod sent me his email address, I sent this email:

Subject: Orks/Plaguebearers trade on Bartertown
Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2011 21:23:45 +0000

Hi Joe,

Dallas here (wehrmacht on Bartertown). You will recall that we made a deal to trade my Ork Burnas/Lootas for 8 Plaguebearers.

USPS tracking indicates that my half of the trade was delivered to you on Jan 21/11.

I've been sending you PMs asking for the status of the deal but haven't heard anything back. I know that you read my PM that I sent on Jan 21 but I have had no response whatsoever.

I hope everything is OK with you but as you can understand, I am concerned about the trade. I need to hear back from you by Friday 4 Feb at 5pm EST or I will be filing a BTR on Bartertown. I don't want to do that because of your good reputation, but I need to know what's going on.

I understand if you have been ill or bereaved and haven't been able to attend to this, but please just drop me a quick email and let me know what's up.

Thanks,

Dallas
---------------------------------------------------------

I've attached supporting information in the form of the postal receipt. The tracking number is in the PMs above if anyone wants to check it on http://www.usps.com.

Again, I don't get the feeling that this guy is a ripoff artist like some bad traders here. Maybe he is sick, or something has happened? I didn't want to post a BTR but I feel I have no choice if I want to enlist the help of fellow Btowners to resolve the trade.

Thanks,

Dallas

A parcel arrived today with Joe's half of the deal, with no explanation for the delay or lack or communication. I am pleased that this is resolved, but would only trade with this trader again if he shipped first.

Can you please update the thread and let us know what the post date was on the package?
Once that's in here, I'll lock it up & move it to the Resolved forum

Thanks.

Eric

The parcel was postmarked February 3, 2011. If I had known he was sending the stuff I never would have initiated a BTR

Again, great to see this resolved (I'd never expected to get the stuff) but communication from my trade partner was not good. (My PMs to him are still unread as of today and he last visited Btown on Jan23/11)

Cheers

Good info.
Locking thread, renaming the subject line and moving it to "resolved."
