BTR: Standard of War aka Joshua Austin

Haven't heard from Joshua since the update about there supposedly being an issue with Paypal. Everything looked legit, and the user has some reasonable cred. Should have went half up front half once shipped. I am working with paypal right now on getting a refund through them.

Hopefully there is some legitimate issue as to why Joshua has abandoned communication. I attempted to email Joshua at the provided paypal address to no avail. Obviously spam filters etc can be blamed, but there is still no excuse for this amount of delay in communication.

Hey there.

Yea, the Sylvaneth are still up for grabs if you’re interested. Shipping is included in the price for shipping in the US, but over seas will be a little more if you don’t live in the states. Let me know if you want them and I can start packing them up ASAP.

Thanks

Hey, I’m incredibly sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you. I’ve had a ton of trouble with PayPal. Due to selling a bunch of stuff, PayPal saw it as unusual activity and it triggered a security feature on my account limiting access. I’ve been on the phone with them for way too long over the last couple days trying to square this away but they’ve been no help. I have to provide all kinds of info like manufacturer name for products, phot id and a list of other stuff and it has to be reviewed by a security specialist. I’m just going to refund the money so your not waiting for all this to get fixed. I’m really sorry about that. I’ll try to do it through the site but might have to call them since my account access is limited.

Yo, so what's the story on the refund or shipping me the items?

Ok, I'll try one more time to PM you for an update before I start the BTR process.

What's the status of this? It's been 20 days since I paypal'd you.

I can't help but wonder precisely what happened with their account. I've had weeks where I've sold over $1k here and never had so much as a hiccup.

Looks like you hit all of the bases.

I have a different email address for SoW. PM me if you want it.

I had a similar issue with my Venmo account- they requested things like my drivers license and other forms of ID to restore access, and everything had to be reviewed by security analysts. There's no excuse for the lapse in communication, but the Paypal issue certainly could be legit.

To the OP - Have you received a refund from paypal? It would seem another user had a deal with the member in question and was able to receive a refund. The other BTR is here: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=324161

Thank you,

Ryan

I have not as of yet. What are the rules against PMing folks this trader has dealt with in the past to get more information?

As long as you're polite, honest, and upfront about WHY you're asking, there's no problem at all.
I advise providing a link to the BTR at some point in the PM, too.

You might be surprised how much people here will do to help when it's within their power.

Just to post this here:
He has not not made any contact with me and Paypal has not issued me a refund. None of the folks I tried contacting that he had previously traded with were able to provide me with any additional contact information.

Can you give us details on what happened with PayPal?
We might be able to help you with that part.

Also, do you have any other email addresses for him? Have you tried emailing the PayPal address?

Eric

I believe I submitted the wrong kind of claim dispute in Paypal. They rejected it with no explanation. But looking up some information after the fact, I am pretty sure I screwed up and used the wrong method in the resolution center. And now that I have submitted a claim it will not let me submit another one for that transaction.

I have emailed all the addresses I have seen. So the Paypal one he gave me, the one he gave to the other user whom Standard of War did refund via paypal, and the one you folks have provided for the login. And I emailed from two different email addresses to make sure the email was not getting caught by spam filters, or at least giving it the best chance of getting through.

I've found that calling Paypal, and potentially asking for a supervisor, tends to get better results than their automated systems. Apologies if this has already been tried.
